TATA Steel 360 Virtual Tours with VR

TATA Steel approached us with the need to create a novel way of marketing their 4M investment at their Steelwork site in Wolverhampton. The site houses their Tailor Welded Blanking Line, a modern processing line that manufactures parts for the automotive industry. Up until now, the marketing of these machines has been in the more traditional forms such as still imagery, video and text copy. TATA Steel had ideas of creating a 360 virtual tour incorporating Virtual Reality through Google Cardboard headsets to catch the attention of those in the automotive industry.

Through liaising with plant management and TATA Steel marketing we were able to gain access to the Blanking Line and capture unique 360 views throughout the whole manufacturing process. The tour utilises a set path navigation, guiding the user from start to finish and information points describe each part of the process. We also provided 300 Google Cardboard headsets for use at trade shows and as marketing hand outs.
