Sidney Sussex College Virtual Tour with Content Management System

Sidney Sussex College, founded in 1596, is part of the world famous Cambridge University group of colleges and sits proudly in the centre of the City. Sidney Sussex approached us wanting to improve on their previous virtual tour offering, wanting to provide users with a modern, feature filled presentation of the campus packed with information pop-ups and world leading photography to show off the spaces in the nest way possible.

An aerial shot of the College and its position within the City was an important feature of the new tour, and we worked with Cambridge Airport to arrange the necessary permissions for a safe and legal flight. We flew our drone to a height of 350ft, capturing a 360 degree viewpoint over the whole of Cambridge with Sidney Sussex taking pride of place within the scene. This enabled us to pinpoint each ground based 360 scene within the aerial 360, allowing users to get a sense of space and see how each area of the College relates to each other.

Ground based scenes feature key outside areas with courts and gardens featuring heavily. Internal scenes such as accommodation, common rooms and learning spaces give a fantastic introduction to life on College grounds.

Content Management System

Sidney Sussex is the first of our clients to opt for our brand new Content Management System (CMS) for virtual tours, allowing them to have full control of all aspects of the tour. Through the back-end CMS login, they can edit everything from scene names, menu items, information points and more. As well as being able to edit and add to the content, the CMS also features a detailed analytics section allowing the College to find out how people are using the virtual tour, down to which information points are the most popular, which scenes are being viewed most and for how long, and a host of other details.
